Being stuck indoors for a day or two because of a blizzard may sound awful to some, to me it sounds like heaven. After an unseasonably warm winter in New York City, January hit and with it came a blizzard called Jonas. The day before the storm, while everyone else was at the markets stocking up on milk, bread and whatever else was left on the shelves, I was at the Jamaican food shop getting patties (and full disclosure, some bun and cheese as well. Priorities).
It turned out to be an excellent choice as I ended up having to leave my apartment the next day to find an open drugstore. I’ve never seen the streets of New York so empty. I decided to bring along a little snack that I had warmed in the oven. My Jamaican patty. Way better than milk and bread – and I love me some bread.
Ps. Never found that open drugstore.
