This post is really a shoutout to my dad. He LOVES him some bulla. He grew up eating bulla as a child and has loved it ever since. He could eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner in one day and probably has at some point. Bulla is a thick cakey treat made with molasses, ginger and nutmeg (along with a few other ingredients). They come as flat rounded little loaves usually in a pack of four and can be found in most Jamaican bakeries.
My father usually eats them plain, dipping a piece into a glass of milk. Bulla are quite dense so the milk can be a nice compliment to wash it down with, though many people eat it with butter or cheese. I have never tried to make it but it is on my ever growing list of Jamaican specialties to master.
